“Remember that wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure” – Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

Paulo Coelho, the greatly accomplished author and lyricist, has blessed us with amazing titles such as The Alchemist, Veronika Decides to Die, The Zahir and many other literary delights. When I say many, I really mean it. The man has essentially written a book every two years since his career started in the late 70s and early 80s.

Winner of several international awards, such as the World Economic Forum Crystal Award in 1999, Coelho is known for his thought-provoking themes and inspiring messages. He has changed lives with his powerful words, which is the highest compliment a writer can receive. And it’s a compliment that’s completely deserved.

But before his success, Coelho dropped out of law school to pursue his ideal life. During Coelho’s travels, including walking the 500-mile Road of Santiago de Compostela, he found some divine wisdom and inspiration which started his writing career.

As most most of his books are rooted in his life experiences, it safe to say that Coelho is a wise, experienced storyteller. Perhaps you are looking for a soul-warming read or the perfect tale for the end of summer. Whatever the reason, it’s always a good time for a little Paulo Coelho.

Here are three great works of Coelho to start with. Happy reading!

The Alchemist

“And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”

Veronika Decides to Die

“The two hardest tests on the spiritual road are the patience to wait for the right moment and the courage not to be disappointed with what we encounter.”

“Everything tells me that I am about to make a wrong decision, but making mistakes is just part of life. What does the world want of me? Does it want me to take no risks, to go back to where I came from because I didn’t have the courage to say “yes” to life?”

"I just love a guy that's chill. I'm so crazy - he just balances me out."
